Technology Advisory Senior Enterprise Architect
Technical Consultancy, London
Technology Advisory Senior Enterprise Architect
Technical Consultancy, London

The team you'll be working with:

As part of our Consulting, Strategy and Advisory practice in the UK&I you will be working with a range of client organisations that may be in sectors where you have prior experience or may in some cases be entirely new for you.

You'll be joining an agile, innovative and extremely people focused company; it feels like a start-up but with serious backing and has the reputation of exceptional end-to-end solutions.

What you'll be doing:

Whilst we have multiple assignments in-flight with different team compositions, in the main you can expect to be part of a team led by a Delivery Lead, Senior Enterprise Architect or Sector/Client CTO and working alongside Data, Security, Solution and Business Architects as well as Business Analysts/Consultants. For shorter assignments, bids and early engagement with new clients you may also be working in a very small discovery or bid team or individually as the sole representative of Technology or Architecture related expertise.

This position will typically combine strategic and more hands-on activities in which you will collaborate on a daily basis with user researchers, BAs, the DevOps team, and client stakeholders to establish and/or assure conceptual, logical, and physical IT architectures and application designs during the discovery and delivery stages – and ensure that they are aligned to enterprise architecture principles and agreed technology strategies.

Operating as an Enterprise Architect you may also be expected to define, refine and extend elements of overall client technology strategy, governing principles for solutions or application portfolios and to embed and enable transformation priorities across a complex portfolio of investments and projects.

The approach we take typically uses Agile methods and ceremonies when executing, demonstrating progress and seeking feedback though a series of sprints.  The work will look to bring insight and guidance to delivery teams or decision makers on technology architecture, technology selection and delivery approach.

You will be market aware and able to provide balanced opinion on future technology direction whilst being pragmatic in the need to align to existing capabilities and work within the guard rails defined by a Reference Architecture.

What experience you'll bring:

Enterprise and prior Solution level IT architecture experience – including roles operating across portfolios of multiple solutions/capabilities with a specific Enterprise Architecture and Technology Governance remit – as opposed to simply working on individual solutions or applications.

Track record of working across multiple Enterprise Architecture domains (business, information/data, applications, technology) and also have a good understanding of modern architectural and agile delivery approaches, reference architectures, technology solutions & vendors and technology selection & procurement approaches. Your experience should include enterprise level exposure to commoditised IT services including cloud (eg AWS, Azure, GCS) and market leading SaaS solutions. You will also bring a broad range of experience and skills across the following areas:

  • Experience working within defined architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Delivery with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) approaches and Enterprise Architecture tooling, such as with Archimate and Sparx EA
  • Broad expertise of multiple technologies, applications and architectural styles, such as integration and messaging services, ERP, CRM, Case Management, online / digital services, automation, AI, Analytics and Big Data.
  • Able to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders to present Enterprise Architectural thinking regarding approaches to rationalisation, modernisation and IT innovation, drawing on market research and emerging technology approaches
  • Have a solid grasp and the ability to understand and select various architecture and application deployment patterns, such as SOA, microservices, event-driven, layered models, and so on.
  • Strong expertise in creating conceptual designs for business cases, as well as high-level design documentation.
  • The ability to spot and address common themes and architecturally significant concerns.
  • Excellent communication skills and strengths in producing high quality and accurate documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Adept in using a range of influencing styles to building strong sustainable relationships.
