What you'll be doing:

 Lead or contribute to the maintenance, creation and validation of transmission network analysis datasets.

  • Support connection application and network planning processes by evaluating project alternatives, identifying and resolving potential technical issues and proposing innovative design solutions.
  • Liaise closely with customers about their network connection, particularly with regard to code compliance aspects, including voltage control and quality of supply issues.
  • Lead or contribute to challenging projects, such as the use of new technologies or the investigation of network disturbances.
  • Take part in industry working groups to review standards and codes such as the SQSS, the Grid Code or documents produced by the Electricity Networks Association (ENA).
  • Provide technical leadership and specialist engineering support across SPEN.

  • Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • Find solutions that meet customers/business requirements
  • Experience designing interactive applications
  • Team Lead experience
  • Manage and direct other developers
  • Prioritise workloads
  • Experience with Agile methodologies & JIRA
  • Experience in documenting requirements and specifications

Development Skills

Frontend:

  • JavaScript (React & Angular framework experience)
  • HTML/CSS

Backend:

  • Java (Spring Boot/Framework, Maven)
  • ASP.Net (C#, NuGet)

Database:

  • Experience with SQL Server / Oracle / PostgreSQL
  • CI/CD
  • GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube

Other Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with IIS & JBoss
  • Cloud awareness (Azure/AWS)
  • Awareness of Firewall / Load Balancer technologies
  • Understanding of DNS
