The team you'll be working with:

NTT Data UK&I are looking for a Health and Safety Officer on a 12 month FTC who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of occupational health and safety and the ISO45001 management system for NTT Data UK&I. The role involves preventing and reducing accidents, injuries and ill health at work by promoting a positive health and safety culture and environment for all personnel.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintain and continually improve policies, procedures and records, ensuring safety best practices and oversight of the wellbeing of our personnel.
  • Communicate and deliver effective health and safety awareness and training programmes.
  • Ensure that H&S programmes align with legislation such as HASAWA and the ISO 45001 management system.
  • Risk Assessment and mitigation; ensure personnel comply with safety plans to mitigate identified risks and hazards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence; maintain thorough records of all safety incidents and report as required.
  • Regulatory compliance: stay up to date with safety regulations and ensure all company activities comply with these regulations.
  • Conduct regular OHMS Management Reviews and H&S committee meetings and prepare and present regular safety reports to senior management.
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and internal audits to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures; collaborate with landlords in conducting drills and exercises to ensure personnel are prepared for emergencies.
  • Manage external relationships - consult with audit bodies and other functions/authorities around H&S matters.
  • Conducting return to work, new and expectant mother risk assessments and processing access to work information.
  • Contractor and Subcontractor oversight; evaluate and monitor the safety practices of contractors and subcontractors working in our offices. Ensure that they comply with safety standards and policies.
  • Continuous Improvement; identify, recommend and implement improvements in safety practices, processes and performance.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends

What experience you'll bring:

  • Certification in occupational health and safety, CMIOSH, NEBOSH National General Certification or similar.
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 45001 processes, systems and management of audit.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Management and application of ISO 14001 (and/or ISO 50001) preferable.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety.
  • Occasional travel across our UK office portfolio required.
