Solution Architect - Public Services
Solutions Architecture, London

What you'll be doing:

We are looking for an experienced, pragmatic, personable and talented Solution Architect for one of our large UK Central Government client accounts. Domain-wise, you will be operating within one of the UK’s critical departments, supporting the delivery digital, data and technology services.  You will be working with policing and public protection services (both central policing and national capability), as well as interacting with Homeland Security, wider national law enforcement and arms-length bodies.

Whilst we have multiple assignments in-flight with different team composition, in the main you will be in a team led by a Delivery Lead or Enterprise Architect and working alongside Data, Security, Business Architects and Analysts/Consultants.

This is a hands-on position in which you will collaborate on a daily basis with user researchers, BAs, the DevOps team, and client stakeholders to establish conceptual, logical, and physical IT architectures and application designs during the discovery and delivery stages.

The approach we take uses Agile when executing, demonstrating progress and seeking feedback though a series of sprints.  The work will look to bring insight and guidance to delivery teams or decision makers on technology architecture, technology selection and delivery approach.

You will be market aware and able to provide balanced opinion on future technology direction whilst being pragmatic in the need to align to existing capabilities and work within the guard rails defined by a Reference Architecture.

What experience you'll bring:

You will have strong solution / IT architecture experience with a good understanding of cloud-based services (ideally AWS), along with;

  • Experience working within an architectural framework (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Delivery with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE), such as with Archimate and Sparx EA
  • Broad expertise of technologies and applications, such as integration and messaging services, ERP, CRM, Case Management, online / digital services and be familiar with market research and emerging technology approaches
  • Have a solid grasp and the ability to use various architecture and application deployment patterns, such as SOA, microservices, event-driven, layered models, and so on.
  • Strong expertise in creating conceptual designs for business cases, as well as high-level and low-level design documentation.
  • The ability to spot and address common themes and architecturally significant concerns
  • Excellent communication skills and strengths in producing high quality and accurate documentation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Adept in using a range of influencing styles to building strong sustainable relationships
