About you:

Release Manager

 

A hands-on technical DevOps Release Manager is required for a telecom client. You will be responsible for the management of the end to end release process for several core systems. This includes forward release planning, the role holder will be responsible for smooth transition of the projects / deliveries from Development into Operational state. Knowledge of Agile and release train concept preferred.

 

You'll have the following responsibilities

 

  • Owning the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, co-ordinating and management of releases across a number of business-critical applications
  • Planning release windows and the overall release lifecycle
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or system updates
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirement
  • Measure and monitor progress
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Weekly Release Reporting
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
  • Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensures alignment across key partners and vendors
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists

 

You'll have the following skills & experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2-4 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
  • An excellent understanding of computer software and programming
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Formal training in project management practices preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Leadership and analytical skills
  • Problem-solving (solution-oriented)
  • General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office expert level knowledge of Excel, and working knowledge of Project
  • Experience in bug tracking systems, with a preference for in-depth knowledge of JIRA
