An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NTT DATA UK as the Commercial Director. The Commercial Director is a key player in providing commercial services, devising, supporting and implementing strategy to meet the needs of our fast-paced business and customers.  This role supports all of our public and private sector customers across multiple sectors, including Telecommunications, Media, Insurance, Manufacturing, Automotive, Central and Local Government and other public service sectors

The focus of your role will be to ensure that NTT DATA conduct good business throughout the full business lifecycle – from sales through to the conclusion of contract delivery. You will lead proposals, contracts and changes, provide support to inflight projects where needed, troubleshooting and resolving project escalations, and acting at the forefront of customer discussion and owning the management of contractual and pricing matters. The role will also shape the commercial aspects of our intellectual property strategy, our developing partner ecosystem, and evolving the commercial function. 

The role holder will also be responsible for the line management and development of the NTT DATA UK Commercial Team

About you:

You will have previous commercial, channel management, procurement and subcontract experience at a Senior Commercial Manager / Head of Commercial / Commercial Director level in an IT / technology / Professional services environment, 

The role demands extensive knowledge of legal issues, profitability requirements, contract structure, terms and conditions, sub-contract considerations, funding and payment plans.

You will have the ability to formulate the full range of agreements with customers, partners, including: teaming agreements, confidentiality agreements, licences of intellectual property and responsible for drafting contracts / agreements and provide guidance on drafting techniques to their team.

Forging good working relationships and having strong communication with peers, other colleagues, internal and external customers is key to this role, alongside having the maturity and gravitas to work with senior and executive levels both internally and with clients.

What to expect:

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead all commercial aspects of bids, building a commercial offer that balances the need to maximise the businesses competitive position whilst achieving an acceptable contractual outcome
  • Lead complex and significant contract negotiations, and leading and influencing the negotiation plans on wider business
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the NTT DATA UK leadership team on all commercial and contractual matters
  • Lead and improve commercial consistency and performance with key customers
  • Formulate, negotiate and obtain approval for contractual terms and conditions, work orders and pricing
  • Develop and implement the NTT DATA UK pricing policy and ensure business adherence through core processes
  • Develop the commercial team’s capabilities both individually and collectively ensuring optimisation of the value to NTT DATA UK
