What you'll be doing:

We are seeking a highly specialized Spare Parts Planning Consultant with deep expertise in SAP APO SPP / S/4HANA eSPP / SAP IBP to lead the spare parts planning component of our client’s discovery phase. Experience with other specialist parts planning vendors would be highly desirable (e.g. Servigistics, Baxter Planning, GAIN Systems). This role requires a unique combination of skills in SAP (preferably SAP SCM/APO SPP, SAP IBP or SAP S/4HANA eSPP) and extensive experience in spare parts planning in Automotive, Aviation or Aerospace. The consultant will work closely with the client to understand their current spare parts planning processes, identify gaps and design a future-state solution that enhances inventory management, demand forecasting and supply chain efficiency. The consultant will engage with senior stakeholders and independently lead the engagement in his area of expertise. You'll also be responsible of:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of the client’s existing spare parts planning processes, including inventory management, demand forecasting, demand planning, deployment planning, parts replenishment, distribution strategies and returns. This includes the evaluation of parts planning performance metrics/targets and the effectiveness/efficiency of the organisation.
  • Define the future-state spare parts planning capabilities, leveraging SAP tools (such as SAP SCM/APO SPP, SAP IBP) to optimize inventory levels, reduce inventory ageing and improve service levels.
  • Evaluate the Parts Planning design and Planning Data Models, recommending improvements to the design
  • Evaluate the current SAP landscape and identify opportunities to enhance or reimplement spare parts planning functionalities. Recommend SAP or non SAP solutions that align with the client’s business objectives.
  • Define the capability requirements for an effective parts planning organisation, and conduct software evaluations with client staff on potential solutions
  • Ensure that the spare parts planning processes are fully integrate with other supply chain functions, including procurement, logistics and production.
  • Contribute to the development of the Target Operating Model (TOM) and roadmap.
  • Develop a transition strategy that outlines the steps needed to move from the current state to the desired future state, including necessary change management and training initiatives.
  • Lead workshops and meetings with client stakeholders to gather requirements, present solutions and define the future state spare parts planning processes.
  • Identify and implement best practices in spare parts planning to enhance key performance indicators. 
  • Present findings, recommendations and solutions to senior client stakeholders, articulating the benefits and impacts of proposed solutions.

What experience you'll bring:

  • Experience in spare parts planning, with extensive hands-on experience in SAP implementations focused on spare parts and inventory management. 
  • Deep knowledge of spare parts planning processes, including demand forecasting and planning, forecast algorithms, aggregated and disaggregated plans, multi-echelon planning, first and last time buy, obsolescence management, safety stock calculations, risk based spares planning, inventory deployment, replenishment strategies and whole lifecycle management.
  • Proficient in SAP tools related to supply chain and spare parts planning such as SAP SCM/APO SPP, S/4HANA eSPP, SAP IBP, with a proven ability to configure and optimise these systems for spare parts management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex data and processes to develop effective spare parts planning strategies.
  • Experience with other specialist parts planning vendors would be highly desirable (e.g. Servigistics, Baxter Planning, GAIN Systems).
  • Extensive experience in industries where spare parts management is critical such as automotive, industry equipment, aerospace or manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Ability work with other functional consultants and to integrate spare parts planning with other SAP modules.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with senior stakeholders and presenting technical concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and drive client engagements.
