Job Title: Consulting Director/Lead for Defence and National Security

Location:  London or Birmingham, United Kingdom - Hybrid

Department: Business Consulting

Reports To: Head of Public Sector Consulting

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic strategic leader to join our Public Sector Practice to lead our management consulting capability in Defence and National Security.  You will work closely with the Head of Consulting for Defence and National Security and Account teams to identify, shape and then deliver critical projects and programmes.

What you'll be doing:

 

 

Your focus will be on establishing senior-level engagement within existing and new clients, within the UK Ministry of Defence and related agencies. You will be responsible for working with sector and account leadership to identify, shape, sell, and deliver consulting-led opportunities. Building connections with decision-makers and influencers will be crucial. Through these relationships, you will emphasise the value of our services. You will also contribute innovative ideas and fresh perspectives to senior stakeholders, aiming to broaden our impact. Through tailored value propositions, you will communicate how we are differentiated and how we address our clients' specific needs.  You will assess, clarify, and validate customer requirements to ensure their evolving needs are met. Your tenacity in following up with customers will be key in transitioning discussions into concrete interest and new opportunities.

What you will be doing

  • Playing a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our business through collaboration.
  • Building and nurturing relationships, manage a consulting sales pipeline, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborating closely with Sales/Account Directors, support, and service lines to structure solutions that align with client requirements, presenting them back in compelling proposals.
  • Leveraging global offerings, capabilities, and case studies to provide tailored proposals to new and existing clients.
  • Leading development of solutions that best cater to customer needs, including defining project deliverables and coordinating the involvement of cross-functional company personnel.
  • Achieving agreed consulting revenue and utilisation targets.

What experience you'll bring:

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in consulting, with a track record of driving profitable growth within defence and national security sector
  • Deep knowledge of UK Defence Sector and strong understanding of UK armed forces.
  • Strong connections with decision-makers and influencers at CXO levels and below.
  • Highly credible with ability to develop and present tailored value propositions to senior leaders
  • Tenacity and commitment to transition discussions into concrete interest and deal execution.
  • Experience in leveraging global offerings, capabilities, and case studies to drive growth.
  • Ability to define project deliverables and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of managing a consulting sales pipeline and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Sales/Account Directors, support, and service lines.

 

Education and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, management or technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of relevant continued professional education, for example certifications related to Consulting, enterprise architecture or emerging technology
  • Be willing to be undergo vetting and security clearance
