The team you'll be working with:

Our Public Sector Business Unit is growing strongly, and we are looking for an individual experienced in building application and data managed service functions to join the team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of driving the growth in this area – building internal capabilities and helping to shape and sell operational support services to new and existing clients.

You will have a background in the Public Sector, preferably for a consultancy or systems integrator, and have a track record of successfully selling and delivering digital and data managed services. You will be a strong communicator, capable of generating written material of extremely high quality and presenting confidently.  You will be comfortable with a wide range of technologies and solution types with a perspective that is broad rather than deep in any specific area. You will have a strong commercial understanding and be able to balance financial and budgetary constraints with customer aspirations. You will be used to working a fast-changing environment, forming new teams quickly, bringing organisation and structure where there is ambiguity and building strong working relationships. You will have a clear understanding of the requirements for working in secure high trust environments.

What you'll be doing:

Your role will span capability development, delivery oversight and pre-sales support. You will be responsible for leading pre-sales activities for opportunities related to application and data support services, typically as part of a formal procurement (e.g. RFx) or in support of a proactive campaign. In delivery, you will ensure that all services are delivered in line with customer expectations and oversee the work that your teams. From a capability perspective, you will mature ways-of-working and help build effective service delivery teams.

Your primary objectives will be to:

  • Rapidly qualify and assess new managed service opportunities.
  • Author creative and persuasive pre-sales content and thought leadership related to application and data support services.
  • Quickly distil customer needs or goals into a simple vision and story board that can act as a central pivot for pre-sales activities.
  • Lead service aspects of client pitches and negotiations.
  • Maintain a clear roadmap of activities to mature our digital and data support services for the Public Sector market.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with relevant client stakeholders.
  • Oversee delivery across all application and data managed services for the delivery unit, retaining ‘green’ service status for all engagements, working with on-the-ground teams to develop resolution plans for any issues.
  • Build and leverage a wide senior-level internal network to navigate the global delivery organisation.

What experience you'll bring:

To take advantage of this opportunity you will need to be a highly structured individual with a rock-solid background in service delivery and extensive experience in leading pre-sales activities. You will have the ability to lead people and be comfortable working at both strategic and operational level:

  • You must have the ability to be bold, bring clarity and build confidence in our understanding of each opportunity.
  • Your experience will enable you to rapidly qualify opportunities and provide a view on complexity, opportunity size and risk.
  • You must excel at building relationships, influencing and orchestrating internal functions to build new services for our clients.
  • You must be capable of driving improvement in services, improving efficiencies and improving customer satisfaction.
  • You must be able to dig into detail when required, distilling information from on-the-ground teams and presenting to senior internal and client audiences – for example as part of recovering from a major service incident.

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of service delivery experience with large, complex organisations, at least some of which has been within the UK Public Sector
  • Sales or pre-sales experience for application or data support opportunities, with demonstrable experience of shaping, costing and selling the service elements of solutions within the Public Sector.
  • Experience building teams and functions, scaling support organisations in response to increased demand.
  • Experience of defining and presenting service architectures in multi-supplier environments.
  • Experience of defining and implementing internal processes in line with UK government security standards, including building internal capabilities where required.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry standards and methods including ITIL 4.
  • Understanding of architectural concepts, across application, cloud infrastructure, data, and integration.
