The team you'll be working with:

We are seeking Enterprise Architects (EAs) join the Technology Advisory team with our Consulting, Strategy and Advisory (CS&A) practice. CS&A operates within a wider Digital, Strategy and Technology (DST) Service Line at NTT Data UK&I.

CS&A undertakes consulting led advisory projects across a range of different industry sectors. These include technology strategy and transformation aligned engagements, short discovery and maturity assessment projects as well as longer individual or team based roles in specific programmes with a strong architecture or technology advisory element.    

The principal role of our Enterprise Architects is to engage with client organisations that are seeking to implement strategic business initiatives and transformation programmes through the effective assessment, implementation and governance of technology and technology solutions.

You will be part of an overall advisory practice that includes both business and technology consultants with a range of industry sector and consulting/technology domain specialisms.

Our Enterprise Architects are expected to work closely with the strategy or CTO office or specific business functions within customer organisations. This may include work within existing architecture teams, or inside programme delivery teams and/or working with suppliers engaged for specific projects. You may at times expect to work in parallel across multiple projects, solutions and technology investment areas.

Critically, we are looking for individuals who want to work in in an advisory practice and who can thrive in consulting led engagements.

We have opportunities at the Specialist level and Senior Specialist level.

At the Specialist level you should be able to demonstrate prior experience working in Techincal or Solution Architecture roles or as a generalist consultant with a strong technical focus. You should have gained some experience working as an Enterprise Architect or within projects that are EA led or focussed.

At Senior Specialist level you should be able to demonstrate significant prior experience working in an Enterprise Architect capacity with specialist knowledge in one or more EA domains (business, applications, data, infrastructure/cloud) and in several different technology areas and industry sectors.

We are particularly interested in experience gained in the Application and Infrastructure/Cloud domains and with the modernisation and consolidation of complex application portfolios and associated technologies/platforms.

At both levels you should be adept at engaging with customer stakeholders, documenting and socialising ideas with impact and working in multidisciplinary teams that may include NTT, Customer, Supplier/Partner and wider members.   

What you'll be doing:

We expect all of our Technology Consultants and Enterprise Architects to contribute to and inform the development of both End to End Solution Architecture, System Architecture and Solution Design to ensure alignment to agreed strategic direction, governance, technology strategy and other industry best practice frameworks or guidelines.

Typical goals and objectives of the EA role for customer engagements

  • Drive sustainable growth by meaningful technology transformation initiatives in line with business ambitions
  • Stay on top of industry trends and innovations providing the best services and advice for customers and other stakeholders
  • Steer the overall architecture and design efforts across ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives
  • Simplification and standardisation of the existing portfolio of processes, application, and infrastructure; horizon scan for new technologies and sunset those obsolete or out of support
  • Reduce costs and risks that may hinder operational efficiency, using approaches such as FinOps and AIOps
  • Bridge the gap between strategic architecture and operational delivery
  • Promote enterprise agility by bringing more agile and continuous delivery concepts in architecture practices and keeping governance lightweight and federated
  • Reduce technical debt

Typical scope and responsibilities (as an EA on customer engagements)

  • Develop and maintain technology strategy and underlying domain strategies to deliver our strategic KPIs
  • Develop and maintain enterprise roadmap/s
  • Enterprise portfolio management and provide input to planning 
  • Lead technology assessment, transformation and development of strategic change initiatives 
  • Provide thought leadership and drive innovation (including the use of emerging technology such as Gen AI)
  • Provide architecture governance and compliance across all programs (but avoiding cumbersome governance that may hinder Agile and DevOps processes)
  • Define IT principles and performance measures for the architecture practices
  • Identify and manage architecture risks
  • Assess major technology investments
  • Develop and maintain EA framework and governance processes

Scope and responsibilities (as a member of the NTT Data UK Technology Consulting practice)

  • Lead and/or contribute towards the development of Technology Advisory propositions and approaches
  • Mentor and coach other practice members including Solution Architects and Technologists
  • Support the identification of new business opportunities
  • Drive engagement among Technology Consulting and wider NTT Data UK advisory practices, service lines and lines of business to raise awareness and embed understanding of the value of Enterprise Architecture and related approaches

What experience you'll bring:

  • Working as an Enterprise Architect with at least some of that experience gained in a professional services organization or context. 
  • Ability to construct or contribute content to bids and proposals – collecting and distilling requirements from clients or responding to PQQ, ITT/RFP requests from existing or potential clients
  • Prior experience in Solution and/or Application Architecture domains across a range of solution areas tackling complex solutions and transformative business change.
  • Exposure to senior business stakeholders up to and including board level.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present at an executive level (CXO) with gravitas and impact
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to challenge, assure and critique complex solutions
  • Use of Enterprise Architecture and modeling tools (such as Sparx EA) including diagramming with UML and Archimate notation
  • Commercial and budget awareness – estimation of work, proposal costing, taking responsibility for own occupation and that of other team members 
  • TOGAF Certification or equivalent (eg BCS)
  • Exposure to Cloud based technologies
  • Exposure to significant Digital Transformation programmes
  • Leadership and influencing skills and experience in successful conflict resolution and decision making
