Enterprise Architect - Public Services
Solutions Architecture, London

Who we are:

Our Public Sector team has achieved some of the largest growth of both people and projects across NTT Data UK and this position represents a key role within this business unit.

NTT is an agile, innovative and extremely people focused company; it feels like a start-up but with serious backing and has the reputation of exceptional end-to-end solutions.

You'll be joining the 6th largest IT Service Provider, present in more than 50 countries. From our roots in Japan, NTT DATA's mission is to facilitate business change and technology transformation across many industries for a better future for our business, people and community.

Everything we do is underpinned by our core values of 'Clients First', 'Teamwork' and 'Foresight' and we achieve these by putting people first.

We support and celebrate our differences and preferences, these are what makes us unique. Some of our initiatives, collectively known as “DO Diversity”, aim to create a space for us to learn and get involved in building a truly diverse environment.

What you'll be doing:

We are looking for an experienced, pragmatic, personable and talented Enterprise Architect for one of our large UK Central Government client accounts. Domain-wise, you will be operating within one of the UK Government’s critical departments, supporting the delivery of digital, data and technology services.  You will be working with policing and public protection services (both central policing and national capability), as well as interacting with Homeland Security, wider national law enforcement and arms-length bodies.

Whilst we have multiple assignments in-flight with different team composition, in the main you will be in a team led by a Delivery Lead, Senior Enterprise Architect or Sector/Client CTO and working alongside Data, Security, Solution and Business Architects as well as Business Analysts/Consultants.

This position will combine strategic and more hands-on activities in which you will collaborate on a daily basis with user researchers, BAs, the DevOps team, and client stakeholders to establish and/or assure conceptual, logical, and physical IT architectures and application designs during the discovery and delivery stages – and ensure that they are aligned to enterprise architecture principles and agreed technology strategies.

Operating as an Enterprise Architect you may also be expected to refine and extend elements of overall technology strategy, governing principles for solutions or application portfolios and to embed and enable transformation priorities across a complex portfolio of investments and projects.

The approach we take uses Agile when executing, demonstrating progress and seeking feedback though a series of sprints.  The work will look to bring insight and guidance to delivery teams or decision makers on technology architecture, technology selection and delivery approach.

You will be market aware and able to provide balanced opinion on future technology direction whilst being pragmatic in the need to align to existing capabilities and work within the guard rails defined by a Reference Architecture.

What you'll need:

You will have strong Enterprise and prior Solution level IT architecture experience – including roles operating across portfolios of multiple solutions/capabilities with a specific Enterprise Architecture and Technology Governance remit – as opposed to simply working on individual solutions or applications.

You should be comfortable working across multiple Enterprise Architecture domains (business, information/data, applications, technology) and also have a good understanding of modern architectural and agile delivery approaches, reference architectures and technology solutions. This experience needs to include enterprise level exposure to commoditised IT services including cloud (ideally AWS), along with;

  • Experience working within an architectural framework (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Delivery with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) approaches and Enterprise Architecture tooling, such as with Archimate and Sparx EA
  • Broad expertise of multiple technologies, applications and architectural styles, such as integration and messaging services, ERP, CRM, Case Management, online / digital services
  • Able to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders to present Enterprise Architectural thinking regarding approaches to rationalisation, modernisation and IT innovation, drawing on market research and emerging technology approaches
  • Have a solid grasp and the ability to understand and select various architecture and application deployment patterns, such as SOA, microservices, event-driven, layered models, and so on.
  • Strong expertise in creating conceptual designs for business cases, as well as high-level design documentation.
  • The ability to spot and address common themes and architecturally significant concerns
  • Excellent communication skills and strengths in producing high quality and accurate documentation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Adept in using a range of influencing styles to building strong sustainable relationships

Nice to have’s

You should preferably have expertise and experience with the Gov.UK Service Manual, particularly in the areas of cloud hosting, application integration, data management, and bespoke application development.

Technical familiarity with Home Office systems and services.

Cloud services qualifications and recognised training would be beneficial.

...and finally:

The focus on Clients First, Teamwork and Foresight is in our DNA and we are looking for someone who shares and embodies these core values, leading by example.

We don't look for finished articles. We look for people who want to continue their career growth alongside NTT DATA 's.
