The team you'll be working with:
We are seeking a pragmatic, detail-oriented Data Architect with deep Microsoft Fabric expertise to join our growing Data & AI practice. You will lead the design of enterprise data platforms on Fabric, create reusable architecture patterns and accelerators, support bids, and help build the practice’s capability through thought leadership and shared assets.
You will be comfortable working across major cloud data platforms (including Databricks and Snowflake) and will bring strong data modelling and delivery leadership skills. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, defining how data architecture fits within wider business and technology landscapes, and will collaborate closely with data engineers, analytics specialists, AI practitioners and client stakeholders to turn strategy into production-ready platforms.
This is a hands-on architecture and delivery role with clear expectations around pattern creation, knowledge sharing, commercial support and leading delivery teams.
What you'll be doing:
- Architect end-to-end Microsoft Fabric solutions (lakehouse, warehouse, real-time, semantic models, governance) for enterprise clients.
- Design, document and industrialise reusable architecture patterns, reference architectures and accelerators that the wider practice can adopt.
- Lead data modelling activities (conceptual, logical and physical) to ensure semantic consistency and fitness for both analytics and AI use cases.
- Provide delivery leadership on complex engagements — shaping approach, guiding teams, managing quality and driving outcomes.
- Support pre-sales and bid activity: solution shaping, effort estimation, proposition input and technical responses.
- Contribute to building Data & AI capability through thought leadership, reusable assets and knowledge transfer that raise the standard across the practice.
- Lead or co-lead client engagements from discovery through design and into delivery.
- Define data architecture frameworks, operating models and governance approaches that fit client contexts.
- Join the dots between business, technology and data architectures.
- Lead and develop architecture and engineering teams (onshore / nearshore / offshore).
- Work confidently across cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake and others) as client needs require, while maintaining Fabric as the primary strength.
- Keep the practice current with Fabric capabilities and related data platform developments; share that knowledge effectively.
Business relationships
- Client Partners and practice leadership
- Peer and senior relationships in client organisations (up to CDO, CIO, Chief Data Architect level)
- Cross-functional delivery teams and practice contributors
Technical expertise
- Proven depth in Microsoft Fabric core capabilities (OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Real-Time Intelligence, semantic models, governance).
- Comfortable working across major cloud data platforms, including Databricks and Snowflake, in addition to Azure.
- Strong data modelling skills across conceptual, logical and physical layers.
- Solid background in databases, data warehouses, distributed processing and modern data architectures.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD for data platforms.
- Familiarity with Power BI and other BI/analytics tools; ability to design for both human and agent consumption.
- Practical knowledge of data security, governance, lineage, quality and compliance frameworks.
What experience you'll bring:
- 5+ years designing and delivering enterprise-scale data architectures across multiple sectors, with a clear delivery track record.
- Proven ability to design and implement Microsoft Fabric architectures for complex client environments.
- Experience working with other major cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent).
- Strong data modelling capability and the ability to produce clear, maintainable models that support both analytics and AI workloads.
- Demonstrable delivery leadership — guiding teams, managing quality and driving outcomes on complex programmes.
- Strong consulting skills and the ability to engage senior stakeholders confidently.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, modern data pipelines and the full data lifecycle (ingestion → storage → processing → governance → consumption).
- Ability to connect business outcomes to technology strategy and executable architecture.
- Experience creating reusable patterns, accelerators or reference architectures that others can adopt.
- Clear communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Advantageous
- Prior contribution to practice development, internal IP or thought leadership.
- Experience supporting bids and shaping data platform propositions.
- Exposure to AI-ready data patterns (feature/context stores, retrieval architecture, governed semantic layers).
Measures of success
- Successful delivery of Microsoft Fabric platforms that meet client objectives.
- Creation and adoption of patterns and accelerators used by the wider practice.
- Effective delivery leadership on complex engagements.
- Positive client feedback and repeat engagement.
- Meaningful contribution to bids, propositions and practice capability through assets and thought leadership.
- Visible leadership in modernising data platforms and raising engineering standards.
Eligibility: Applicants should be eligible to work in the UK. Security clearance may be required for certain client engagements; support will be provided where needed
