Technical Delivery Manager (Observability)
Impact, London

The team you'll be working with:

You will lead an enterprise observability service across two phases. Initially you will run the current Dynatrace platform's maintenance and enhancements backlog with an offshore pod, while shaping the roadmap for a new strategic platform as a trusted advisor. From April 2027 you will deliver that platform's implementation and the estate migration, then transition it into run. This is not a generalist PM role. You are not expected to be hands-on, but you do need to have lived the technology: enough monitoring or SRE background to know what makes migrations slip and alert quality decay, to run a credible backlog, and to earn the trust of the client's technical stakeholders.

What you'll be doing:

Key Responsibilities

  • Service leadership: Own delivery across both phases, from the enhancements backlog through to the build, the migration waves and the transition into run.
  • Trusted advisor: Shape the roadmap with client stakeholders, covering consolidation direction, coverage priorities and event management design.
  • Backlog and demand: Run the enhancements and onboarding backlog
  • Service quality: Own reporting, governance and improvement, tracking alert quality trends, coverage health and delivery predictability.
  • Team delivery: Coordinate a team of architects and engineers. You will also own RAID and cross-workstream dependencies.

What experience you'll bring:

Essential

  • Technical depth: Prior hands-on background in monitoring, infrastructure or SRE engineering. Candidates who have only managed this kind of work are not the profile. You need a working understanding of APM, telemetry, alerting and event-to-incident design, enough to challenge designs and estimates credibly.
  • Service leadership: 10+ years in technology roles, including 3+ leading monitoring or observability services or transformations.
  • Service delivery: Managed services with contractual quality expectations, covering backlog-driven delivery, reporting and governance.
  • Client-facing: Credible with senior client technical stakeholders in an advisory role.

Nice to Have

  • Migration delivery: Estate-wide monitoring migration or onboarding in waves, with application-owner engagement.
  • Dynatrace: Direct Dynatrace experience of any generation, with the current SaaS platform preferred.
  • Extras: ITIL or event management design, and distributed onshore, nearshore and offshore delivery.

Technologies & Tools

The service's technical foundation (working knowledge expected):

  • Observability platform: Dynatrace or Datadog.
  • Data ingest: OpenPipeline for parsing, masking, routing and bucket or retention assignment across logs, metrics, traces and events.
  • Monitoring-as-code: Terraform provider, delivered through Git-based workflows and GitHub Actions.
  • Automation: Workflows and AppEngine, with Site Reliability Guardian for SLO-based gates.
  • Instrumentation: OpenTelemetry, and OneAgent including the Operator for Kubernetes.
  • Service integration: ServiceNow for event-to-incident flow and CMDB enrichment.
  • Estate: A hybrid estate spanning AWS, Azure and on-premises.
