Senior SharePoint / M365 Developer (REACT/SPFX Specialist)
Information Technology, Birmingham

The team you'll be working with:

We are seeking an experienced Senior SharePoint Developer to join our growing Digital Workplace team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in modern SharePoint development, leveraging the SharePoint Framework (SPFX) with REACT to build robust, scalable, and intuitive custom solutions within our Microsoft 365 environment.

This role requires a proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying complex web parts, extensions, and applications that enhance user productivity and collaboration across the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Solution Design & Development: Lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge custom solutions within SharePoint Online/Microsoft 365 using SPFX, TypeScript, and the REACT framework.
  • Front-End Excellence: Apply advanced CSS/SASS techniques to ensure solutions are visually appealing, cross-browser compatible, and adhere to corporate branding and accessibility standards.
  • Integration: Develop seamless integrations with other Microsoft 365 services (e.g., Teams, Power Platform) and third-party systems using Microsoft Graph API, REST services, and web APIs.
  • Architecture & Governance: Provide technical leadership in the modernization of existing SharePoint applications and contribute to the overall SharePoint and M365 development architecture and governance strategy.
  • Code Quality: Uphold and enforce best practices for coding standards, unit testing, performance optimization, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Mentoring: Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and drive the adoption of new technologies and development methodologies within the team.

What experience you'll bring:

  • SharePoint Expertise: Extensive, demonstrable experience with SharePoint Online and its underlying architecture (SharePoint Server experience is a plus, but M365/Online focus is key).
  • SPFX: Expert-level proficiency in the SharePoint Framework (SPFX) for building custom web parts and extensions.
  • REACT & JavaScript Frameworks: Deep practical experience with REACT (including Hooks and state management) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
  • Front-End Styling: Strong command of CSS3, HTML5, and SASS/LESS for creating highly polished and responsive user interfaces.
  • API Integration: Solid understanding and experience working with the Microsoft Graph API and SharePoint REST APIs.
  • Development Tools: Proficiency with modern development tools, including Git, Node.js, and package managers (npm/Yarn).

Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) integration with custom SPFX solutions.
  • Knowledge of Azure services relevant to M365 development (e.g., Azure Functions, Azure AD).
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
